Born into a sailing family (my father and grandfather were builders of wooden sailboats and metallurgy craftsmen) I was exposed to years of boat building projects. At a very early age I learned the subtleties of stresses, design requirements, and how to handle yachts. Because my mentors encouraged single handing and engineering expertise, I enjoy time at sea alone. My priority has been to perfect, and become proficient in, all the skills necessary to operate and maintain shipboard systems: engineering, propulsion, sewage, navigation, communications, environmental and technical.

Captained an Ocean 70, ‘Seven Seas,’ from Perth, Australia to Durban, South Africa.

Delivered an S&S 37, 'Desire,' from Perth, West Australia to Seychelles solo.

Purchased a Fuji 37 for $1.00 in Suva, Fiji in wrecked conditioned and rebuilt her in Suva. Sailed her, 'Valkerie II,' to the East Coast of the US via the Indian Ocean, Perth, Australia and Cape Hope.
1983
Captained a converted 12-meter America's Cup contender, 'Nefertiti,' from Sydney, Australia to Greece.
1981-1982
1st Mate on French custom aluminum 87' "L'Ciel" from Suva, Fiji across South Pacific, through Indian Ocean, South Africa, South Atlantic to Holland.
1980
Delivered a Swan 47, 'Lhotze', from Japan to Vancouver solo after the owner became ill.
1977-79
Purchased Swan 48, 'Whirlwind', in Moorea, French Polynesia, sailed her to Ft. Lauderdale via Panama Canal for refit. Renamed her 'Cyclone' and completed a three year circumnavigation, often single-handling this fine vessel.
